Clarinetist Ilya Schwarts graduated from the Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music and completed his Masters at the Indiana University School of Music. On his return to Israel, he began his career as a soloist and a founding member of various chamber ensembles, including Musica Nova ensemble, the Alef Trio and the clarinet-guitar duo, ‘Green Music’ with all of whom he has made CD recordings.
Since 1998, he has been a performer and teacher at the Music Podium summer workshop in Switzerland and in 2001 appointerd principal clarinet of the Israel Camerata, Jerusalem. In 2004, he was appointed second clarinet with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. From 2010 till 2017 came back to the Israel Camerata Orchestra as a First Clarinet.
He is teaching clarinet in the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance since 2008.
